Great read, Bob.

“Envy ends up biting us back.” What a line. Enjoyed how you reflected on your own experiences in the process of burning the ego.

Well, every time I start writing, you're one of the coaches in my head, challenging me to bring my A-game. I'm sure I'm not the only one with a Mini-Rick!

If some inspiration for storytelling is rubbing off then I'm thrilled Bob. You certainly have the raw material for terrific engagement with all us and I suspect it's a deep well of life experiences that are still to come.

Bob, your story invoked many memories. It's strange, I don't have a "Nate" story, but it still is so familiar. I do agree that if we can remove our schadenfreudean tendencies we can get to so much more meaningful outcomes. Sounds like you are there.

Thank you for reminding me of the word "Freudenfreude," which means the opposite of Schadenfreude: it is the feeling of happiness for and enjoyment in the successes of others. A great feeling to sub-in!
